Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Thursday ruled out midterm elections in Pakistan, saying that the government would complete its term. He was speaking to the media at Alhamra Arts Center on Thursday where he also dispelled the impression of differences with the allies of the government. "Ch Pervaiz Elahi is a seasoned politician and alliance with his PML-Q would not only sustain in the present tenure but it would continue for next elections as well," he stressed. According to him, the absence of differences amongst the allies could be a source of concern rather than no differences among them at all.

He said the people of Pakistan have given a mandate of five years to the government and it would complete its constitutional tenure. On a question about the health of former premier Nawaz Sharif, he said the government would follow the advice of medical board. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government under the leadership of Imran Khan would strengthen the country and initiatives are being taken to bring ease and comfort to the life of a common man. He said the constitution is supreme in the country and everyone is bound to follow it. The courts are fully independent and their decisions would be implemented in letter and spirit, he added.
